The PLACE

The PLACE (Personal Learning Assistance Center, GMBH) is a private practice committed to providing academic support and college counseling to students from around the world. The goal is to help students be the best they can possibly be in order to gain access to reputable universities or to discover other more appropriate pathways..

BIO: ELANA GLASENBERG

Elana was born in South Africa and has lived in Australia, Hong Kong and currently resides in Switzerland. She has a Bachelors of Arts and a High School teaching credential from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. She studied Special Education at Monash University in Melbourne. Elana has taught at the Zurich International School for the past twenty-two years, supporting students in Middle and Upper School with Learning Difficulties. Elana works closely with students, teachers and parents to ensure an optimal learning environment and to make sure students needs are met within the classroom. Elana is a College Counselor for students with Learning Difficulties helping them to find schools that are most suitable to their needs. She has a College Counseling credential from UCLA and is currently enrolled at USC as an Ed.D candidate.

COLLEGE COUNSELING

Since many highly selective universities receive 20 000 to 40 000 undergraduate applications each year, it is important to help students improve their chances of admission to schools that are appropriate for them.

ACT/SAT PREPARATION

A List Education is an international company that will provide regular ACT/SAT preparation courses at The Place.  These courses can be done individually or in small groups.

LEARNING SUPPORT

Students with a diagnosed learning difficulty will receive individual support.  We work closely helping to diagnose these difficulties from experts in the Zurich area. Mild to moderate difficulties including Dyslexia, ADHD can be treated and strategies can be taught to help the student throughout their life.

TUTORING

Tutors will be provided according to students needs.

INTERNSHIPS

Internships can be provided with companies/hospitals in the Zurich area for those students requiring work experience for their university applications.  These internships will take place during the summer.

ENGLISH TUTORING

Cambridge CELTA qualified teacher. Initial personal consultation to tailor the lessons to your individual needs. One-to-one teaching or small groups available for conversation classes, ESL exam preparation, general or business English for adults or teenagers learning English as a second language.
